I am so thankful to have been able to be a part of Arts Alive this year. It is not only just a scholarship opportunity or performance showcase, it is a celebration of the artistic spirit within Osceola County; and I’m glad that I was able to take part in this collaborative experience, brought by ACE and the Education Foundation. I am so proud to be recognized as a Technical Theatre scholar for a project that, I feel, truly represents my passion for the arts.

Arts Alive has been tremendously significant to me because it has allowed me to work with like-minded, passionate, and talented classmates while encouraging me to pursue my goals, and providing financial assistance all at the same time. Unlike most recipients, I will not be pursuing a performing art degree in college. Instead, I will be pursuing a career in public policy. I want to ensure that children in underprivileged communities are exposed to STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) education. I would also like to extend this passion into a specific program, offering an arts program for underage immigrants in the United States whom may be challenged by the English language. Art has a unique way of bringing people together, allowing students of all socio-economic backgrounds to raise the bar of excellence, succeed in promising careers, and initiate global changes. While studying at American University, I will make it my mission to reform art policies affecting our teachers and students. Thank you Arts Alive for this wonderful experience!

Winning the 2014 Arts Alive Overall Scholarship not only made my dream of attending Florida State University possible fiscally but it also gave me self-assurance. Osceola County is a surprisingly competitive county when it comes to the arts, so when I was honored with this award it truly meant something because of the immense amount of talent in our county. Arts Alive gave me something to work towards from freshman to senior year and that work ethic and inspiration has transcended into my life here at FSU. I am so thankful to the ACE Committee and Arts Alive for helping me through the transition from high school to college.

Arts Alive was one of the highlights of my senior year. The feedback that I received throughout the audition and performance process was extremely helpful and encouraging. I am so thankful for the financial help that Arts Alive provided me, which has helped me to attend a school that I love, and to continue to study music. Thank you, ACE Coalition!
